Cottage Weekend

As a much appreciated anniversary gift to our little family, my brother-in-law Steve arranged for Jim and I, along with the boys, to spend a weekend at his friends cottage. These past few weeks have been a little hectic (notice the lack of posts?!?!) and the cottage was the perfect escape. I am not sure who was more excited - me or the boys. We drove up on Friday afternoon, and after climbing down these stairs (lovely to photograph, not as nice to climb!)

We came upon this view...beautiful. We spent Friday afternoon splashing in the lake and doing some fishing, before the clouds let loose and dumped rain all over our Saturday.

Not to worry, though - rain at the cottage is still at the cottage! We spent a wonderfully relaxing day enjoying each others company, went for an adventure drive, and mostly did this...

with a fair bit of this thrown in to keep Mama happy.

Sunday dawned a little bit overcast, but quickly turned into a beautiful sunny day. We spent the hours before heading home going back and forth between the cottage and this beautiful spot just down the road...
